Your footage, a new soundtrack
When you open a video, the studio separates its soundtrack and treats the clip itself as the scene. Every effect — speed, pitch, reverb, bass, 8D, rain — is applied to the soundtrack exactly as it would be to a song, and the picture is retimed so lips, cuts and beats stay in sync. If you’d rather put a different song under the footage, you can replace the soundtrack and keep the clip.
Keeping picture and sound together
| You want | Do this |
|---|---|
| A slowed edit where everything slows | Lower Speed with the footage set to follow the audio |
| Slowed music over normal-speed footage | Keep the footage at normal speed; it loops if the song runs longer |
| A sped-up edit | Raise Speed; Tape mode for the bright sound, Keep pitch for natural voices |
| Only part of a long clip | Trim on the waveform first, then continue to video |
