Privacy

Slowed Room processes your audio on your device. We don't upload, store or see your files.

The short version

Your audio, images and projects never leave your device. We don't have accounts, we don't set advertising or tracking cookies, and we don't sell data.

Files you open

When you open, record or drop a file, your browser decodes and processes it locally. Exports are created locally and saved directly to your device. We never receive a copy.

Projects

To let you return to your work, projects (settings, and a copy of the audio and images you used) are saved in your browser's local storage (IndexedDB) on this device. You can delete any project from the studio's Recent list, or clear all of them by clearing this site's data in your browser.

Free music library

When you search the Creative Commons library, your search terms are sent to the Openverse API, and the track you choose is downloaded from its host (for example Jamendo, Freesound or Wikimedia Commons). Those services receive your IP address like any website you visit.

Links you paste

If you paste a direct link to an audio file, your browser downloads it from that address.

Hosting and logs

The site is served by Google Firebase Hosting, which processes standard request data (such as IP address and browser type) to deliver pages and protect against abuse. We may use privacy-friendly, cookie-less aggregate analytics to understand which pages are useful.

Microphone

The microphone is only used if you choose Record, and the recording stays on your device.
